Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced a groundbreaking plan to convert all buses in India from diesel to electric within the next five to seven years. This initiative aims to combat pollution caused by diesel buses while promoting sustainable transportation options. During a media address, Gadkari highlighted the government's vision of transforming India into an economic superpower with a strong emphasis on Atma Nirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

As part of the government's efforts, electric double-decker buses have already been introduced to transport senior citizens to pilgrimage centers like Shegaon and Mahur. This move demonstrates the commitment to providing clean and efficient transportation solutions while catering to the needs of specific demographics.

The government is also working on developing a policy to incorporate segregated garbage in road construction. Notably, significant amounts of waste have already been utilized in the construction of the Delhi Ring Road and highways in Ahmedabad. This approach not only tackles the issue of waste management but also promotes sustainable infrastructure development.

To ensure smooth movement across the country, the government has allocated Rs 16,000 crore for the construction of railway overpasses and underpasses. These infrastructure projects aim to improve accessibility and facilitate efficient transportation nationwide. Additionally, Minister Gadkari is set to inaugurate 11 railway overbridges and underbridges alongside Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, further showcasing the government's commitment to infrastructure development.

Minister Gadkari expressed his belief that India is undergoing a transformative phase of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the significant progress achieved in just nine years compared to the previous 60 years of Congress rule. Various ongoing and upcoming projects, such as the redevelopment of railway stations, the expansion of the Metro railway, and the Nag River rejuvenation project, demonstrate the government's dedication to driving progress and ensuring comprehensive development throughout the nation.
