Nagpur, India: The Pachpaoli Police have filed a case against a 42-year-old man, Sandeep Shivdas Koche, for allegedly defrauding a woman of Rs 4.49 lakh by falsely promising to arrange a liver donor for her brother’s transplant. The victim, Shweta Suresh Dubey (39), had been searching for a donor after learning about her brother's need for a liver transplant.
Koche, who was known to Dubey, approached her between April 23, 2023, and January 25, 2024, offering to help with the donor arrangement. He collected Rs 4.49 lakh from her during this period, claiming the money was for securing a donor. However, Koche failed to fulfil his promise and did not arrange a donor.
Despite Dubey's repeated requests for assistance or a refund, Koche neither returned the money nor provided the help he had promised. Instead, he allegedly threatened her with dire consequences when confronted.
Following Dubey’s complaint, the police have registered a case against Koche under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 504 (intentional insult), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations into the case are currently underway.
