Nagpur, India- In a tragic hit-and-run incident, a 74-year-old woman passed away at Government Medical College and Hospital on Monday. The deceased, Phulabai Laxmanrao Jangdekar of Rameshwari Nagar, Ajni, was struck by a bike while out for an evening walk on May 30.
According to police sources, Phulabai was walking between Omkar Nagar Chowk and Shatabdi Chowk when she was hit by a Pulsar bike (MH/31/FZ/1782) driven by 20-year-old Rahul Ramesh Tembhurne, a resident of Ward No. 4, Bhiwapur. Rahul fled the scene, leaving Phulabai critically injured. She was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, where she battled for her life for over two weeks before succumbing to her injuries on Monday.
Following a complaint by the deceased's son, Surendra Laxmanrao Jangdekar, the police have booked Rahul under Sections 279 and 304(A) of the IPC. Further investigation is ongoing.
