Butibori, Nagpur, India: In a successful operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Jyotsana Giri (34), a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) attached to Butibori Police Station, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. The arrest took place on Thursday after PSI Giri was accused of demanding a bribe in exchange for not implicating a person in a crime investigation.

PSI Giri was investigating a case in which the complainant’s name came up during the probe. The complainant was previously summoned to the police station, where Giri allegedly seized his mobile phone. The PSI then reportedly demanded a bribe of ₹1 lakh to ensure that the complainant would not be named as an accused in the crime.

Shocked by the demand, the complainant immediately approached the ACB and reported the matter. ACB officials said that the complainant, negotiating the bribe, managed to lower the amount to ₹30,000. He then approached PSI Giri with marked currency notes, and as she accepted the money, the ACB team apprehended her red-handed.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy SP Rakesh Sakharkar, with assistance from PI Prashant Kedar, HC Pankaj Ghodke, NPC Mahesh Selokar, WPC Kanchan Gulbase, constable Sachin Kinhekar, and Priya Neware.
