Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar met with top district administration officials to assess the preparations for the upcoming Winter Session of the State Legislature in Nagpur, scheduled for December 7. The Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, and senior officials attended the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner Vijayalaxmi Bidari, present at the meeting along with senior officials from Nagpur, including Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, shared details of the preparations. She mentioned that the Legislature Secretariat would commence operations in the city on November 26, while its Mumbai office would cease operations on November 24.
Bidari outlined the allocation of accommodations for government officials arriving from Mumbai and finalized arrangements for ministers' and senior bureaucrats' residences as per protocol. Office spaces near the Vidhan Bhavan premises were also arranged for the day-to-day functioning of government officials during the session.
The administration plans to secure government-owned vehicles from divisions like Amravati, Nashik, and Aurangabad for transportation during the session. Bidari added that private vehicles might be hired through tender processes if necessary.
The city has already welcomed the government's IT team, with other operational maintenance teams expected to arrive soon. A review meeting for preparations will likely be conducted next week by Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar and Deputy Chairperson of Legislative Council Neelam Gorhe.
Preparations include allocating offices for two NCP factions led by Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar inside Vidhan Bhavan. This echoes the arrangements made during the previous session for the Shiv Sena factions led by Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde after their split.
As the Winter Session approaches, activities such as furniture repairs, building repainting in Vidhan Bhavan, road maintenance, tent setups for police personnel, and beautification of official buildings are in full swing.
