Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has shed light on the reasons behind his faction's decision to align with the BJP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. He expressed that their collaboration was aimed at addressing the state's people's issues.

Speaking at a public rally in Beed, Pawar emphasized that in the realm of politics, alliances are flexible, with no permanent foes or friends. He stressed that their partnership, known as Mahayuti, was formed to work towards the betterment of the people and the state's development. Pawar added that despite their alliance, they remained committed to safeguarding individuals of all castes and religions.

He underscored their dedication to supporting farmers, citing his own work as the former Water Resources official in the state. Pawar recounted how he had urged the state's Agriculture Minister, Dhananjay Munde, to meet with central leaders in Delhi regarding the onion issue.

Discussing the recent increase in onion export duty by the central government, Pawar shared his perspective on how this move was beneficial for onion farmers and addressed criticisms from figures like Nana Patole, the Maharashtra Congress Chief.

Notably, the Central government had announced a 40% export duty on onions until December 31, 2023. This decision came amidst concerns of rising onion prices. The government aimed to stabilize prices by maintaining a buffer stock of onions, an effort that commenced in the previous year.

Pawar's speech shed light on the considerations and actions behind his faction's alignment with the BJP-Sena government and their efforts to address various challenges facing the state.
