Alka Yagnik, a Bollywood playback singer, has been identified as having an uncommon sensory hearing loss. The seasoned singer stated on Instagram, "A few weeks ago, as I was walking out of a flight, I suddenly felt I was not able to hear anything."
She disclosed that she was diagnosed with sensorineural nerve hearing loss, an extremely uncommon condition, as a result of a viral infection.
"After gathering some bravery in the weeks that followed the incident, I would like to finally speak up in response to all of my friends and well-wishers who have been enquiring as to why I have been absent from the scene. My specialists have determined that it is a rare sensory neural nerve hearing loss brought on by a viral infection," wrote Yagnik.
The head of the ENT department at Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dr. Manohar Shaan, reports that the number of instances of sensorineural nerve hearing loss (SNHL) has increased but no clear underlying reason has been found.
Viral infections can result in sudden hearing loss (SNHL) by immune-mediated means, direct cochlear invasion, or disruption of the inner ear's blood supply. To prevent and treat SNHL in a timely manner, it is essential to comprehend these causes and risk factors, according to Dr. Shaan.
