A large part of the Tekdi Road flyover, which cost around 16.23 crore, has been taken down. All 47 sections of the structure have been brought down since the demolition started in July. According to Maha Metro, the organization responsible for this, almost 95% of the demolition work is finished. This process started on July 19 and is now nearing its completion.

The flyover was built in 2008 and was 812 meters long. Rainy weather initially slowed down the demolition process, but the company from Mumbai hired by Maha Metro to do the work has almost finished their task. About 1000 cubic meters of debris (around 22,000 metric tonnes) was collected during the demolition. Some of this was disposed of at Gorakshan Trust premises on Wardha Road and other locations.

Despite the demolition work, the road has not been closed. This is because it leads to the main entrance of Nagpur Railway Station and the well-known Tekdi Ganesh Mandir.

The plan is to create a new six-lane road, funded by Central Road Funds (CRF) provided by Union Surface Minister Nitin Gadkari. To make this six-lane road a reality, some land will need to be acquired from the defence forces.
