Vidarbha, Amravati: The state's finance minister, Ajit Pawar, stated that the Belora airport in Amravati will be ready for passenger service by March 31.

The survey and exploration for the Gadchiroli airport are underway, and funds will also be allocated for the Akola airport, he stated. He also mentioned that, with all the work completed, the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) is now awaiting a license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to begin operations at the Amravati airport.

Sources reported that the inspection has been completed, and the MADC hopes to receive a license within two weeks. Alliance Air is anticipated to begin flights to Mumbai, and the land acquisition process for the Gadchiroli airport is expected to commence soon.

The MADC will acquire 560 acres of land for the airport through direct negotiations with the landowners. Sources revealed that MADC received an allocation of Rs 830 crore in the budget, the highest amount so far. After Amravati, an airport is being developed in Akola, which falls under the Airports Authority of India (AAI). However, since there is no plan to begin commercial service, the project may not progress in the near future, according to a source.
