Nagpur, India: The construction of the new flyover from the RTO office to the university campus on Amravati Road is facing challenges as the bridge landing is positioned over a nullah near the RTO. Experts from the National Highway Division of PWD may consult bridge specialists from VNIT to assess the situation.

Landing the flyover on the existing bridge over the nallah could be risky, as several bridges over city nallahs have failed during heavy rains. This makes building a flyover ramp on the old bridge highly dangerous.

Experts recommend building new bridges on either side of the existing one to keep traffic moving. Once these are completed, the old bridge could be removed to make way for the flyover ramp.

Tearing down and rebuilding the nallah bridge would require road closures and diversions, which could cause major traffic issues. They are also still waiting for funds to buy the land from the RTO to the Bole petrol pump.

This 2.5 km-long flyover is nearly complete, with only the landings at Ravi Bhavan Square, Law College Square, and the RTO still to be finished.

Sources indicate that if the nallah bridge work and land compensation issues are addressed, the flyover could be completed by December. However, progress has currently slowed because the contracting team is on break for Diwali celebrations.
