The youngest-rated chess player in history is Anish Sarkar, who hails from Kaikhali in north Kolkata and is just three years, eight months, and nineteen days old. Anish started playing chess a year ago and quickly discovered his passion. He was born on January 26, 2021, and his ascent in the chess world is both rapid and remarkable.
Anish made his competitive debut in October in the West Bengal state Under-9 Open, when he defeated two rated players and finished 24th overall with 5.5 points from eight rounds. His adventure didn't end there.
Soon after, he faced off against older and more seasoned opponents in the state Under-13 Open. He received an initial FIDE rating since this match satisfied the FIDE criteria of playing five rated players.
Anish's adventure began early, even though she came from a lower-middle-class family with parents who had never played chess. According to his mother, they got him aboard after he expressed interest in chess videos on YouTube. Anish now practices up to eight hours a day under Barua's tutelage at the Dhanuka Dhunseri Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy.
