Anti-Burglary Unit Nabs Vehicle Theft Suspect, Recovers Stolen Activa

Nagpur, India- The Anti-Burglary Unit of Nagpur Police held the vehicle thief suspect, and a stolen Honda Activa worth ₹80,000/- has been recovered. The arrest was made following a reported theft in the Pratapnagar area.

The incident occurred on November 9, 2023, between 3:40 PM and 6:00 PM, when Amit Deepak Dhenusevak, a 40-year-old resident of Rameshwari Ring Road, Nagpur, reported that his locked Honda Activa, with registration number MH 49 BX 4877, had been stolen. Acting on Dhenusevak's complaint, Pratapnagar Police registered a case against an unidentified suspect under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code.

During a parallel investigation, the Anti-Burglary Unit received reliable information leading them to set up a trap. The suspect, identified as Pavan Ashokrao Deshmukh, 28, a resident of Thugaon Nipani, Tinkheda, Narkhed, in the Nagpur district, was apprehended. Upon interrogation, Deshmukh confessed to the theft, and the stolen vehicle was recovered from his possession.

The police arrested Deshmukh and handed him, along with the recovered vehicle, over to the Pratapnagar Police for further investigation.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) and the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), with the dedicated efforts of the officers and personnel of the Anti-Burglary Unit. The Nagpur Police continue to prioritize swift action against criminal activities, ensuring the safety and security of the city's residents.
