In a shocking crime that reminds people of the movie Drishyam, an army pharmacist from Nagpur, Ajay Wankhede, has confessed to murdering his 32-year-old girlfriend, Jyotsna. According to the police, Ajay killed Jyotsna because she threatened to tell his senior officers about their relationship. Ajay, who had already been married three times, had been dating Jyotsna for over a year after meeting her on a matrimonial website.

Jyotsna, who worked at a factory in the MIDC area and was divorced, wanted Ajay to marry her. However, Ajay kept avoiding her requests, which made Jyotsna frustrated. She finally warned Ajay that she would directly contact his commanding officer to expose him. This threat pushed Ajay to plot her murder.

What Happened That Night?

On the night of August 28, Ajay picked up Jyotsna from her friend's house in Besa, and they went for a drive. They headed towards Hingna and drank alcohol during the drive. The two started arguing again, with Jyotsna demanding marriage, which Ajay refused. Their fight got heated, and Ajay drove to Dongargaon, where he allegedly killed her.

After killing Jyotsna, Ajay took her body to a forested area near Butibori, about 30 km from Nagpur. He buried her in the forest, making sure to hide all evidence by levelling the ground and even applying plaster over the burial site. To confuse the police, Ajay threw Jyotsna’s phone into a moving truck, which sent investigators on the wrong trail with misleading location data.

Ajay’s Escape Plan

Ajay didn’t stop there. He went into hiding by checking himself into various hospitals in Nagpur, Kamptee, and Pune, pretending to be sick to avoid arrest. He stayed in hospitals from September 3 to October 4, trying to escape suspicion. However, after weeks of investigation, Ajay finally surrendered to the police on October 18.

Jyotsna’s post-mortem revealed a head injury, raising suspicion that Ajay struck her with a heavy object. Forensic experts from AIIMS confirmed signs of physical violence during the autopsy.

Multiple women duped?

Police suspect that Ajay was involved with several other women, luring them with false promises of marriage, just like he did with Jyotsna. However, it was Jyotsna’s decision to expose him that tragically led to her death. Ajay has now been remanded in police custody until October 24, as the investigation continues.

This shocking incident has left the city in disbelief as the details of Ajay’s cold-blooded plan continue to emerge.
