Arrest Made in Wardha for Illicit Liquor Production and Smuggling

A Wardha resident was arrested for illegal country made liquor production and smuggling, with charges under MPDA and Liquor Prohibition Act for multiple offenses.

Vidarbha, Wardha, India: Harish Nandkishore Meshram, a resident of Savalapur, Arvi, was arrested by the Local Crime Branch for illegally producing country-made liquor. He was involved in the smuggling of this illicit liquor, which was being manufactured at his facility, and was subsequently sent to the Central Jail in Nagpur.

Police Station In-charge Yashwant Solse recommended that the accused be arrested under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act and submitted the proposal to the Superintendent of Police, addressing the Collector.

An order was issued against the accused, leading to his arrest and subsequent transfer to the Central Jail in Nagpur.

According to reports, the accused will be charged under the Maharashtra Liquor Prohibition Act, 1949, for the period between 2016 and 2024, during which a total of 34 cases have been registered against him.

Considering the upcoming State Assembly elections, the Collector and Superintendent have issued strict orders under the MPDA guidelines to take action against illegal country-made liquor manufacturers.

The arrest operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Dr. Sagar Kawade, with the assistance of D.S. Khanderao, PI Vinod Chaudhary, PI Yashwant Solse (LCB), API Waghade, Santosh Durgude, Girish Korde, Amol Atram, Mahadev Sanap, Vinod Maske, Imran Khilchi, and other officers from the Arvi Police Station.
