In the aftermath of last week's heavy downpour, the process of assessing the damage has commenced in Nagpur city. Both the district and municipal administrations have joined forces to conduct the panchnama, or survey, of affected households.
Remarkably, on the first day of assessment, a total of 3,000 houses were surveyed. This swift response was made possible by the deployment of a dedicated team comprising 55 officers and personnel from the district administration.
A preliminary assessment of the rain-related damage indicates that a staggering 10,000 houses have been affected. However, the final tally is yet to be determined, pending the completion of the panchnama.
During the heavy rainfall, the administration made use of drones to inspect the affected areas. This technology-enabled them to pinpoint the regions that were hit the hardest and identify the houses where water had entered.
As the panchnama of houses damaged by the rain continues on a war footing, the administration remains committed to determining the full extent of the damage. The information gathered will be invaluable in providing assistance and relief to those affected by the heavy downpour in Nagpur city.
