Nagpur, India: The charges against Amin Sohail, the owner of Asian Fire Works, have been escalated to manslaughter following a deadly blast at the company on February 16. A case has also been filed against other individuals involved in the incident. The victims who died in the explosion have been identified as Bhura Laxman Rajak (25) from Bhilma, Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, and Munit Madavi (31) from Ghunti Mandla, Madhya Pradesh. The injured individuals, Saurabh Musale (25), Sahil Dilawar Shaikh (26), Ghanshyam Lokhande (55), and Doorli, are all residents of Katol. There has been public concern over the delay in arrests, even after the case was filed. To address this, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, along with other key officials, visited the site on February 17 to assess the situation.
People are asking for financial help for the families of the workers who died in the explosion at the fireworks company in Kotwalbaddi. Many groups are offering support. The company area is very quiet now, like a place of mourning. The company, which started in 2017, had about 60 workers, and it made firecrackers and wicks. On the day of the blast, 33 workers were present when three explosions occurred. The blasts were so loud that they could be heard up to 10 km away.
Action will be taken against the culprits after receiving the forensic and PESO reports in the blast case. Savner Divisional Police Officer Anil Mhaske has indicated that action will be taken against those responsible. It is said that, due to the resentment of the villagers and on the instructions of MLA Charan Singh Thakur, a case was filed against the culprits, including the owner of the company, under sections 106 (1), 288, and 125 (B) of BNS. However, the company owner was not arrested the next day. Is the police not cooperating with the administration and the company owner? Discussions are ongoing in this area.
