As the industry is going through challenging times, Filmmaker Karan Johar highlighted the importance of need to redefine how success is defined in bollywood. Speaking on Faye D'souza's podcast, Johar emphasized that filmmakers must focus on creating for diverse audience preferences beyond just urban setups. Talking about the rising cost of filmmaking and demands by top actors he criticised how it acts as a huddle for filmmaker. Pointing out how Bollywood has become too much trend-focused, chasing after genres that momentarily succeed without staying true to unique storytelling. He stressed the importance of creating films that resonate with a wider Indian audience, including those in smaller towns and cities. He said how statistics underline Bollywood's struggle with content quality. Out of 57 Hindi films released between Diwali 2023 and Holi 2024, only a handful achieved box office success. Big-budget movies like "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" and "Maidaan" failed to meet expectations, highlighting the disconnect between investment and audience reception. Amidst all of these challenges and bollywood's need for reevaluation, Karan's laterst 'Kill' is performing well on the box office.
