Riots Aftermath: NMC Officials Bulldozes Illegal Structure at Fahim Khan’s Property

Nagpur, India: Illegal portions of Fahim Khan’s house were demolished by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Monday morning after he failed to remove the unauthorised structure within the 24-hour deadline. Fahim Khan, accused of being the mastermind behind the recent Nagpur violence, now faces sedition charges.  

The demolition took place after violent riots in Nagpur claimed the life of 38-year-old welder Irfan Shafiq Ahmed Ansari, who died from injuries sustained during the unrest. The violence, which left 33 police officers injured in the aftermath of the protest.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised strict action against the rioters and said that the cost of damages caused during the violence will be recovered from those responsible. He warned that properties could be seized and sold if the payments are not made.  

On Monday, civic authorities acted by demolishing the unauthorised sections of Fahim Khan’s property after he ignored the orders to remove them. Some people expressed strong opinions about the situation, with one remarking that a bulldozer should be used on the person responsible, not just his house, if anyone engages in such violence.  

Fahim Khan remains under investigation with multiple charges, including sedition, filed against him. The police are continuing their investigation and monitoring social media platforms to identify others who may have been involved in spreading unrest.  

The situation in Nagpur remains under control, with security forces maintaining a strong presence to ensure peace and prevent further disturbances.
