City Traffic Police Crack Down on Violators, Issue Over 6,000 Fines in a Day

Nagpur, India: The City Traffic Police conducted a special operation that resulted in issuing challans to 6,353 vehicle owners in a single day. the major focus of this initiative was to ensure traffic violations and speeding issues. Commuter ignores the traffic norms, and indulge in rash driving forgetting the fundamental rules of traffic.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic, Archit Chandak, highlighted the initiative's focus on road safety and protecting lives. The majority of them avoid wearing helmets, with 4,599 motorcyclists fined. Other included 51 cases of wrong-side driving, 163 for triple-seat riding, 158 for not wearing seatbelts, and 96 for using tinted windows. Additional penalties were issued for unauthorized passenger transport, driving without a license, no-entry violations, crossing stop lines, and illegal parking.
The operation involved 500 traffic officers across 10 divisions, concentrating on helmet non-compliance, a key factor in head injuries during accidents. Despite repeated enforcement efforts, many two-wheeler riders were caught without helmets.
DCP Chandak noted that this was the highest number of fines issued in a single day in the last two years. He emphasized the importance of unannounced enforcement actions to ensure adherence to traffic rules. "Following traffic regulations should be a priority for all citizens," he said, adding that compliance not only eases traffic congestion but also saves lives.
