Crime Branch Nabs 2 Drug Smugglers, Seizes Drugs Worth Rs 1.25 Lakh

Crime Branch arrests two drug smugglers in Nagpur, seizing Mephedrone worth Rs 1.25 lakh; third suspect remains at large as police intensify search efforts.

Nagpur, India: The Crime Branch has arrested 2 drug smugglers and recovered 12 grams of MD Drugs valued at Rs 1.25 lakh. The accused, Sheikh Israil Sheikh Ajimulla (52) from Mhalgi Nagar and Sheikh Iqbal Sheikh Tayyab (40) from Yasin Plot, Tajbagh, were taken into custody early Sunday morning at around 2:25 am. A 3rd accomplice, Naushad Rustam from Tohit Nagar, Bada Tajbagh, is currently evading arrest.

The arrests occurred during a routine patrol in the Hudkeshwar area when police noticed Israil and Iqbal acting suspiciously on a two-wheeler. Upon searching them, officers discovered the drugs hidden in their possession. During interrogation, the duo named Naushad Rustam as their supplier, prompting police to launch a manhunt for him.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP Detection Rahul Maknikar and ACP Abhijeet Patil, with arrests made by Unit 4 of the Crime Branch. A case has been registered at the Hudkeshwar police station, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend Rustam.
