A jeweller and his son were attacked by a group of criminals near Chinteshwar Temple in Nagpur on Monday night. The attackers also vandalised their shop and even assaulted a police officer who tried to stop them. The fight started when the jeweller asked the group to stop using bad language in front of female customers.

The criminals have been identified as Kesarinandan (Jackie) Ranjit Pardhi, Akshay (Akshu) Ranjit Pardhi, Akash Rajendra Pardhi, Raj Rajendra Pardhi, Dharti Rajendra Pardhi, Harshvardhan (Natkhat) Neeraj Pardhi, and Rahul (Nanu) Raju Pardhi.

The jeweller, Padmakar Rupchand Parate, 48, owns Parate Jewellers near Chinteshwar Temple. Around 8 pm, the accused were drinking alcohol and shouting outside his shop while women were shopping inside. At first, Parate ignored them, but when he asked them to stop, they got angry and threatened him before leaving.

A few minutes later, the group returned with swords, rods, sticks, and stones and attacked Parate’s shop. They broke items, beat Parate, and smashed his mobile phone before running away after issuing death threats.

Parate’s 71-year-old father, Rupchand, rushed to help but was also attacked and pushed to the ground.

A police officer from Tehsil police station saw the attack and tried to stop them. However, the criminals attacked him too, beating him and breaking his phone.

Local people quickly informed the Lakadganj police, who registered a case and detained the accused. But in a shocking move, the police released the criminals within four hours, at around 2:30 am.

After being released, the accused came back to the same spot, drunk, and openly threatened to behead Parate. Residents informed the police again, but when two officers arrived, they only scolded the criminals instead of arresting them.

This incident has shocked the local community, raising serious concerns about safety and police action in the area.
