Nagpur, India: The landfall of Cyclone Fengal in coastal areas on Saturday led to a significant rise in temperatures across Vidarbha on Sunday. Nagpur recorded the highest increase, with a rise of 4.9°C in just 24 hours.
On Saturday, Nagpur's minimum temperature was 13.6°C, but by Sunday, it had climbed to 18.5°C, which was 3.9°C higher than normal. Wardha saw a rise of 4.8°C in minimum temperature. Other districts, including Akola, Amravati, and Buldhana, reported increases of more than 3°C, while Bhandara and Gondia saw a 2°C rise.
The cyclone’s influence was visible in Nagpur, where residents woke up to cloudy skies. Despite the cloud cover, the city’s maximum temperature remained steady at 29.4°C.
Due to the cloudy weather, maximum temperatures in areas like Bhandara, Buldhana, and Yavatmal remained below 28°C, while places like Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Wardha, and Washim saw temperatures above 28°C. Akola, Amravati, and Brahmapuri reported temperatures exceeding 30°C.
