A fire broke out at Ram Bhandar, a popular sweet shop in Pratap Nagar, Nagpur, on Friday morning due to a blast in the air compressor of a deep freezer.

The incident occurred around 10:35 am while the shop was closed, resulting in no casualties.

Firefighters from the Trimurti Nagar fire station responded promptly and managed to control the blaze by 12:10 pm, preventing it from spreading to nearby establishments.

The fire caused significant damage to the shop's interiors, including air conditioning units, furniture, and electrical fittings. Preliminary estimates suggest losses of approximately ₹20 lakh, while property worth ₹30 lakh was saved due to the swift response of the fire brigade.

An investigation is underway to assess the full extent of the damage and determine the exact cause of the blast.
