Nagpur, India- The Nagpur division is witnessing a surge in dengue cases, with 206 infections reported across six districts in East Vidarbha from January 1 to May 21, 2024. Tragically, one patient from Wardha district has succumbed to the illness.
Chandrapur district is the hardest hit with 75 cases, followed by Wardha with 45, Gondia with 38, Gadchiroli with 28, and Nagpur with 20 cases. These figures have been confirmed by the health office in Nagpur.
Health officials are combating the outbreak with insecticide spraying and awareness campaigns. However, unseasonal rains have made the situation challenging by increasing mosquito populations.
The health department stresses the importance of eliminating standing water, using mosquito repellents, and seeking early medical attention for symptoms like high fever, headache, joint pain, and rash. Community cooperation is essential to curb the spread and prevent further loss of life.
