Drug Smuggling Gang Leader on the Run After Violent Escape in Nagpur
A drug smuggling leader is on the run after a violent escape in Nagpur, injuring pedestrians and police officers.

Nagpur, India: Sohail Khan, accused of leading a large MD drug smuggling operation, has been on the run for over ten days. Allegedly protected by the Mankapur police, he is also accused of deliberately running over five individuals, including two police officers, while attempting to flee.
The incident took place in the early hours of November 15, when Sohail Khan, along with five or six others, including Sanket Kanhere, Rahul Raut, and a minor, was heading to Mominpura to pick up a drug consignment. The group, involved in smuggling MD and marijuana, speed up their car upon noticing a police checkpoint near Bhagwaghar Square, fearing the discovery of drugs and weapons inside the vehicle.
Police officers Anirudh Sahastrabuddhe and his colleague chased the car on a motorbike. During the escape attempt, the suspects struck pedestrians Wahid Khan and Mohd Shahbaz.
The suspects vehicle became stuck in a narrow street, but they tried to escape by reversing, injuring officer Sahastrabuddhe and his colleague. Local residents managed to catch Sanket Kanhere and Rahul Raut, who were beaten by the crowd before being handed over to the police.
A minor was also arrested, with marijuana and a knife found on the suspects. Sanket and Rahul are in jail after their custody ended. Meanwhile, Sohail Khan, the mastermind, remains on the run, reportedly receiving help from some Mankapur police officers. Both residents and authorities are demanding strong measures to prevent his continued escape.
