Jammu and Kashmir, India:  The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the scheduled upcoming assembly elections today at 3 PM.

The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The elections will be conducted in three phases, beginning on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with the results set to be declared on October 4.

In Haryana, the assembly elections will be held in a single phase on October 1, aligning with the third phase of voting in Jammu and Kashmir. The counting of votes for both regions is scheduled for October 4.

The phased approach aims to ensure a smooth and orderly electoral process across the region. Voters will have the opportunity to participate in the elections during these phases, and the final results will provide a clear outcome for the assembly seats. This schedule marks a significant step in the democratic process for Jammu and Kashmir, with preparations underway to ensure a secure and efficient election period.

The Chief Election Commissioner confirmed that polling will take place for 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir, including 74 general seats and 16 reserved seats (9 for Scheduled Tribes and 7 for Scheduled Castes). Jammu and Kashmir will see over 87 lakh voters eligible for the upcoming assembly election. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on August 20.

The Election Commission reported a wave of optimism and hope in Jammu and Kashmir, replacing previous cynicism and apathy. The poll body assured that, based on a thorough security assessment, voters will cast their ballots in a safe and intimidation-free environment.
