Early exit polls indicate a decisive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the recent parliamentary elections. The ruling coalition is expected to secure a strong majority, possibly exceeding 350 seats, while the opposition INDIA alliance is projected to fall far behind.
Six different exit polls show the NDA poised for a sweeping win, consistently predicting over 300 seats:
- India News-D Dynamics predicts 371 seats for the NDA and 125 seats for the INDIA alliance.
- Jan Ki Baat estimates 362-392 seats for the NDA and 141-161 for the INDIA alliance.
- R Bharat Matrize forecasts 353-368 seats for the NDA and 118-133 seats for the INDIA alliance.
- Republic TV-P Marq gives 359 seats to the NDA and 154 seats to the INDIA alliance.
- News Nation projects 342-378 seats for the NDA and 153-169 seats for the INDIA alliance.
- Dainik Bhaskar offers a range of 281-350 seats for the NDA and 145-201 seats for the INDIA alliance.
These projections suggest the NDA could make inroads in traditionally challenging states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala while dominating Karnataka.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has responded confidently to these exit poll results. “I can say with confidence that the people of India have voted in record numbers to reelect the National Democratic Alliance government,” Modi stated.
Modi also criticized the opposition INDIA alliance, calling it “opportunistic, casteist, communal, and corrupt.” He argued that their campaign, which he described as focused on “Modi-bashing,” failed to connect with voters. “Throughout the campaign, the opposition alliance only honed its expertise in Modi-bashing; people rejected such regressive politics,” he added.
As the nation awaits the final results, the exit polls set the stage for what appears to be a significant triumph for the NDA, reinforcing Modi’s leadership and vision for India’s future.
