Regarding UNSC reforms, Dr. Jaishankar expressed that India's growing stature and demonstrated consensus-building capabilities make it a valuable candidate for a permanent seat. He criticized the P5 as 'self-styled Chaudharis of the system' and stressed the importance of India's contributions to the UN.
Addressing India's balancing act in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Dr. Jaishankar explained the necessity of buying oil from Russia to prevent a global oil crisis, showcasing India's diplomatic manoeuvring to protect its interests.
Reflecting on the past decade, Dr. Jaishankar listed India's achievements, including a successful vaccination drive, efforts to combat hunger, support to small businesses, and social and societal changes. He emphasized that these accomplishments form the foundation for India's continued rise in geopolitics.
Regarding the challenges posed by AI, Dr. Jaishankar acknowledged its power and highlighted the importance of managing data responsibly. He considered social media a new energy strengthening democracy, offering good wishes to the youth in navigating the evolving landscape.
Dr. Jaishankar proudly noted the positive change in global perception towards India in the past ten years, citing improved relations with Gulf countries, the inauguration of the Swaminarayan Temple in Abu Dhabi, and a more positive view from the United States.
In response to questions about India's balancing act in various groupings like QUAD and BRICS, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized India's independent nature, stating, "India is a mindset, not just history and traditions."
