On Tuesday evening, users worldwide, including those in India, were left frustrated as they encountered login issues with Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram. The downtime, lasting for more than a couple of hours, prompted widespread disruptions across these popular social networking sites before services were eventually restored.

Reports of the network outage began surfacing around 9 pm, according to the network outage tracking platform Down Detector. Users took to various online forums to express their concerns, with "Cyberattack," "Mark Zuckerberg," and "Instagram Facebook Down" emerging as top-ranking trends.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, swiftly acknowledged the widespread issues affecting their platforms and assured users that they were actively working to resolve the problem. Meta spokesperson Andy Stone confirmed the snag via an X post, stating, "We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now."

Subsequently, Stone confirmed that the technical issue had been resolved. "Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience," Stone said.

As the outage persisted and users sought alternative platforms to voice their frustrations, Elon Musk's platform, Twitter, remained operational. Users flocked to Twitter to report the issues faced on Meta platforms, prompting the Twitter CEO to seize the opportunity to showcase the "superiority" of his platform. In a post, he humorously remarked, "If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working."
