Mohpa, Nagpur-  A couple was killed by a lightning strike at Mohpa village in the Kalmeshwar police station area on Monday. The deceased have been identified as Prabhakar Keshav Revatkar (62) and his wife Hirabai (55), residents of Budhwar Peth in Mohpa.

According to police, the incident occurred near the Mara Mai Mate Temple, where the couple sought shelter under a tree to shield themselves from the downpour. Amidst the intense storm, a sudden bolt of lightning struck the tree, claiming both their lives instantly.

Farmers discovered the bodies of the couple when returning from their fields later that afternoon. Staff from Kalmeshwar police station arrived at the scene and rushed the bodies to the hospital. A case of accidental death has been registered by the police.

Prominent figures such as Deputy Chairman of Panchayat Samiti Shravan Bhingare and Samsuddin Sheikh were present at the hospital.
