Nagpur, India- There are many court cases about government agencies not coordinating, especially with road construction. After roads are built, the Energy Department decides to install new wiring, and Nagpur Municipal Corporation and their trend for construction road first and then realizing about water sewage pipes. They dig up the roads again, damage them, and leave them with large potholes and bad patchwork. This has been going on for a long time, and Nagpur is facing the same problem again. Such work is happening all over the city, leaving people unsure who to contact. Recently, a person died on a poorly maintained road in Bajaj Nagar because of this bad work.
If you look at the road near CP Club in Civil Lines or Central Bazar Road, you’ll see how poorly the authorities are working. Recently, pipelines were laid on the road from VNIT to Shraddhanand Square, but the contractor left the road in a mess with debris everywhere. Now, the road is one-way because it’s not drivable. Similarly, near the girls' hostel of RTMNU, the road is dug up, causing traffic to move on one side only. Poor coordination among government agencies has disrupted traffic. If the civic body had coordinated with the traffic police, the road could have been closed temporarily. During Devendra Fadnavis's government, a Transport Committee was formed, but it’s unclear if they address such issues. Debris from roadwork is also choking trees, even though the Garden Superintendent instructed to leave space around trees so they can breathe.
Even prime areas like CP Club, where judges and high-ranking officials live, are affected. Contractors dug up roadsides and damaged trees but left debris behind, making it hard to walk. Similar problems are seen on Bajaj Nagar road near Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, where a large barricade narrows the road. After a recent accident, authorities closed the median to stop vehicular movement. On Central Bazar Road between Bajaj Nagar Square and Kachipura Square, digging work continues. People are willing to cooperate with the work but fear the contractor will leave it unfinished, with open potholes left behind.
