Nagpur, India: Nagpur Police's Crime Branch Unit 1 has arrested a 23-year-old man involved in multiple vehicle thefts and robbery, leading to the resolution of five criminal cases. The operation resulted in the recovery of stolen goods worth over ₹1.5 lakh.
The arrest follows a theft that occurred on July 19, 2024, in the Beltarodi area. Mukesh Udalak Lokhande, 33, had parked his Honda Shine motorcycle (MH 49 CE 0882) valued at ₹50,000 near Patel Lawn, Besa Chowk, while he was working. Upon returning, he found his vehicle stolen. A case was promptly registered at Beltarodi Police Station under Section 303(2) against unknown individuals.
Crime Branch Unit 1, acting on a tip-off, arrested the suspect, identified as Harsh alias Ekka Mahendra Ramteke, a resident of Tiroda in Gondia district. During interrogation, Ramteke confessed not only to the theft of Lokhande’s motorcycle but also to stealing two additional vehicles: a Bajaj Pulsar (MH 49 BT 2058) and another Honda Shine (MH 49 CA 9540), both valued at ₹50,000, from the Lakadganj area.
Further questioning revealed that Ramteke, along with an accomplice known as Ritik, had also committed a burglary in Tiroda. While the accomplice remains at large, the police have successfully recovered all three stolen vehicles and brought the total number of solved cases to five.
The accused, along with the recovered items, has been handed over to Beltarodi Police for further investigation, while the search for the accomplice continues.
This operation was carried out under the direction of senior Nagpur City Police officials, including the Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection), with active involvement from officers and personnel of Crime Branch Unit 1.
