Koradi Devi Temple, Nagpur - A recent incident at the Koradi Devi temple has left 25 staff members suffering from food poisoning. The cause? Consumption of 'puris' made from rajgira and shingada flour, a type of fasting food.
The incident occurred during the 'Chaitra Navratrotsav' celebrations at the Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Sansthan. Staff members, including priests and officers, were provided with 'upvas' meals, specially arranged by the Sansthan for the occasion.
Unfortunately, the 'upvas' meal turned disastrous when those who partook in the 'puris' and potato dish started feeling nauseous and dizzy a few hours later. Prompt action was taken by the temple administration, who quickly admitted the affected individuals to Nandini Hospital in Ganesh Nagari, Koradi.
Dr. Ajay Singh, the director of Nandini Hospital, informed that while the condition of 4 to 5 employees was serious, the others were discharged after receiving primary treatment.
Investigations revealed that the food items were prepared using available ration supplies from Nagpur. Police have recorded statements from all involved parties, including the cooks and trustees responsible for overseeing the ration supply.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of food safety, even during religious festivities. The temple authorities are expected to take necessary precautions to prevent such occurrences in the future.
