In a recent development, the Maharashtra forest department announced a waiver of entry and safari charges for the high court and district court judges visiting national parks, tiger reserves, and wildlife sanctuaries in the state. Maheep Gupta, the state's chief wildlife warden, issued directives instructing field directors of tiger reserves to implement this decision. The initiative aims to extend a cordial welcome to judges during their visits and ensure a seamless experience by assigning a forester to accompany them. Notably, this directive covers prominent reserves such as Tadoba, Sahyadri, Melghat, Pench, Bor, and Navegaon-Nagzira, where individual safaris typically cost around Rs 5,000.
