The much-anticipated third installment of the Fukrey franchise, "Fukrey 3," hit theaters on Thursday, and it got off to a promising start at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, "Fukrey 3" raked in a noteworthy Rs 8.50 crore on its opening day, even amidst the dominance of Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" at the box office.

"Fukrey 3" has made a strong opening, with its first-day collections surpassing those of its predecessor, "Fukrey Returns," which collected Rs 8.10 crore on its opening day in 2017. "Fukrey Returns" went on to earn an impressive Rs 80.32 crore during its theatrical run. In contrast, the original "Fukrey," released in 2013, managed Rs 36.5 crore during its theatrical run.

"Fukrey 3" faced competition from Vivek Agnihotri's "The Vaccine War," which released alongside it. However, "The Vaccine War" had a modest opening, earning only Rs 1.3 crore on its opening day. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan," released earlier this month, continues to perform well at the box office, with the film's 22nd-day collection reaching Rs 5.50 crore, resulting in a domestic collection of Rs 581.43 crore.

At the trailer launch of "Fukrey 3," producer Ritesh Sidhwani discussed the trend of sequels in Bollywood, emphasizing that not all sequels achieve success. He emphasized the importance of strong characters and a genuine love for the franchise, stating that a sequel should only be pursued if the story naturally progresses and there is an existing fanbase. "Fukrey 3," featuring a stellar cast including Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, Varun Sharma, Pulkit Samrat, and Manjot Singh, is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, who directed the first two installments of the franchise.
