Due to "personal reasons," India cricket team coach Gautam Gambhir will return home on Tuesday from Australia. However, he will return to the team prior to the start of the second Test, a pink-ball match, which starts in Adelaide on December 6. On December 3, Gautam Gambhir will become a member of the team.
"Gambhir has told us that he will return home and join the team before the second Test commences. A BCCI source said on Monday that the BCCI had granted his plea, citing personal concerns. On Wednesday, the Indian team will head to Canberra for a two-day pink-ball tour match that will begin on Saturday.
The Indian team's support staff, which includes bowling coach Morne Morkel, fielding coach T Dilip, and assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate, will lead training sessions in Gambhir's absence. Rohit Sharma, the captain, landed in Australia on Sunday.
