Nagpur, India- Jaripatka Police have arrested Sikandar alias Shekhu Shafi Khan, a known bootlegger, for allegedly killing a man at his liquor shop and then trying to hide the crime by dumping the body near a railway track. Sikandar's wife is also being questioned, as police think she may have been involved.

The body of Pramod Pal Francis, 52, from Lumbini Nagar, was found near the railway line at Goa Colony, Mecosabag, on Wednesday night. Reports say Sikandar attacked Francis with a bamboo stick after Francis tried to steal liquor from his shop. Francis died instantly from the attack.

To cover up the murder, Sikandar and his wife dumped Francis's body near the railway track. They then misled Francis’s sister, Ranjana Kamble, into thinking he died of natural causes and tried to rush the funeral arrangements. However, a witness reported the truth to the police, leading to Sikandar’s arrest.

Sikandar faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence. His wife and other people are being questioned to find out their involvement. A senior police officer said Sikandar was taken to court on Thursday and will remain in custody until August 5 for further questioning. Francis's body has been sent to Mayo Hospital for an autopsy.
