Nagpur, India: Poultry samples from the Bada Tajbagh area in Nagpur have tested positive for the H5N1 bird flu virus. The confirmation came from the ICAR-National Institute of High-Security Animal Diseases, Bhopal, and the Disease Investigation Department, Pune.
In response, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar has declared a one-kilometre area around Motha Tajbagh as an infected zone. A nine-kilometre area has also been designated as a surveillance zone to monitor the situation.
To prevent the spread of the virus, the Rapid Response Team will dispose of all poultry, eggs, and poultry feed within the infected zone. Sanitization and disinfection measures will also be carried out.
The district administration has imposed a 21-day ban on the sale, purchase, transportation, and exhibition of poultry and related products in the infected zone. Poultry markets, fairs, and exhibitions have also been prohibited.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to ensure public safety. Residents have been urged to follow precautions and avoid contact with poultry in the affected area.
