Nagpur, India: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Fire Department declared Meditrina Hospital unsafe and ordered its immediate evacuation. However, the hospital challenged this decision in the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court.
While hearing the petition, a division bench of Justice Nitin Suryawanshi and Justice Praveen Patil issued a notice to NMC, asking it to respond by March 17. In the meantime, the court has temporarily stayed NMC's evacuation order.
It was alleged that Meditrina Hospital had failed to comply with fire safety regulations for the past 13 years. Due to the failure to implement necessary fire safety measures, the NMC Fire Department deemed the hospital unsafe and ordered its immediate evacuation.
Advocate Anoop Gilda appeared on behalf of Meditrina Hospital in the case.
