Nagpur, India- Continuous heavy downpour since the early hours of Saturday, July 20, has brought Nagpur to a halt. The intense rainfall has caused severe waterlogging in multiple areas, significantly disrupting daily life.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials have been dispatched to various affected areas to manage the situation. Manish Nagar Underpass and Shankar Nagar Square are among the worst-hit, with flooding causing major traffic disruptions. Other parts of the city also faced similar issues, making commuting difficult for residents.

In response to the severe weather, the District Administration has announced the closure of all schools for the day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded over 80 mm of rainfall in Nagpur between 5:30 am and 8:30 am. The IMD predicts that the heavy rain could continue until 11:30 am, worsening the situation.

The impact extends beyond city limits, with several villages in the Nagpur district cut off due to overflowing rivers. This has caused significant inconvenience to residents, disrupting transportation and access to essential services.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents to stay indoors and avoid non-essential travel until the weather improves. Efforts are underway to clear the waterlogged areas and restore normalcy as quickly as possible.
