Nagpur, India-  The stern warning from the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court to the Nagpur Administration has brought significant relief to Ambazari residents. Unlike the previous year, the area did not experience any overflow or waterlogging despite heavy rainfall in Nagpur on Saturday.

This positive outcome is the result of a series of precautionary measures undertaken by the administration. These proactive steps ensured that Ambazari was spared from the flooding issues that previously caused significant problems.

In stark contrast, several other regions in Nagpur faced waterlogging issues similar to last year. This persistence raises a crucial question: Will the High Court need to intervene again to address these ongoing problems, or will the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) take the necessary steps to resolve them independently?

The contrasting scenarios highlight the effectiveness of the High Court's intervention in Ambazari and the need for similar proactive measures in other affected areas. Residents of these regions await decisive action from the NMC to prevent further waterlogging and ensure their safety during the monsoon season.

A heavy downpour since the early morning of Saturday, July 20, has brought Nagpur, the Second Capital of the State, to a standstill. The intense rainfall has caused severe waterlogging in multiple areas, leading to significant disruptions in daily life.

Locals were seen removing water from their houses, with allegations against the lack of support from NMC officials. The Manish Nagar Underpass and Shankar Nagar Square were among the worst-hit areas, with flooding causing major traffic disruptions. Several other parts of the city also experienced similar issues, making it difficult for residents to commute.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded over 80 mm of rainfall in Nagpur between 5:30 am and 8:30 am. The IMD has also predicted that the heavy rain could continue until 11:30 am, further exacerbating the situation.

The impact of the heavy rain extended beyond the city limits. Several villages in the Nagpur district have been cut off from other villages and cities due to overflowing rivers. This has caused significant inconvenience to residents, with reports of disrupted transportation and access to essential services.
