Nagpur, India: A 35-year-old man has been arrested for killing his wife and lying about the cause of her death. He initially told police that she had fallen and got injured. The incident happened in Uday Nagar, under Hudkeshwar police station.

The man, Suraj Patil, works as a painter. His wife, Rakhi Patil, was 27 years old. Suraj had doubts about his wife’s character, which led to constant arguments. In October 2024, Rakhi left their home, and a missing person case was filed. She returned after a few days, but Suraj's anger did not go away.

Recently, Suraj rented a new room. On January 10, 2025, he and Rakhi had a fight, and during the argument, he hit her on the head with a heavy object. He then tried to take her to the hospital, but when neighbors asked, he said she had fallen and hurt herself.

At the hospital, doctors declared Rakhi dead. Suraj told medical staff and police that she had fallen from the first floor. However, when police visited the room, it seemed there had been a fight. They became suspicious and found out that Suraj had lied.

Suraj fled with their two young daughters, but police found him and arrested him for murder. He continued to claim his wife’s death was an accident, but the police are sure it was a crime. The investigation is ongoing.
