Nagpur, India: The temperature in Vidarbha is rising, making the days feel hotter. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that both day and night temperatures will go up by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the next few days.
Since January 14, the temperature has been getting warmer, staying 2 to 3 degrees above normal. In early January, the maximum temperature was around 29 to 31 degrees Celsius, but by the second half of the month, it had reached 34 degrees Celsius in some places. The minimum temperature, which was 11 to 13 degrees Celsius earlier, also went above 14 degrees Celsius after January 14.
On Tuesday, Akola was the hottest at 35.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Brahmapuri at 35.1 degrees Celsius. Usually, such high temperatures are recorded in March, but this year, they have already crossed 35 degrees in January. Other cities like Yavatmal, Wardha, Amravati, and Buldhana recorded 34 degrees Celsius, while Nagpur, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Gondia remained below 33 degrees Celsius.
Even the night temperatures are higher than normal. Washim recorded the warmest night at 19.6 degrees Celsius, which is 4.1 degrees above normal. Other places like Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Akola had minimum temperatures above 16 degrees Celsius, while Amravati, Bhandara, Brahmapuri, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, Gondia, and Wardha were above 14 degrees Celsius.
Even though temperatures are rising, the IMD expects another spell of cold weather in the second half of February, which may bring some relief.
