Nagpur, India: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for eight districts in Vidarbha as the region faces sudden and unstable weather conditions. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and heavy rain are expected to affect parts of the region within the next 24 hours.
The districts under alert include Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Gondia, Amravati, Yavatmal, Bhandara, and Gadchiroli. The alert warns of thunderstorms with lightning and potential localised heavy rainfall, urging residents to stay cautious.
Despite overall high temperatures across Maharashtra, Vidarbha is witnessing a shift towards unseasonal weather activity. Amravati recorded the region’s highest temperature today at a scorching 43°C, yet is also forecasted to receive rainfall and strong winds.
In Nagpur, temperatures fluctuated between a minimum of 25°C and a maximum of 41°C, with meteorologists predicting storms and showers through the evening.
Similar unstable conditions are being observed in Wardha and Chandrapur. Notably, Chandrapur reported a surprisingly low minimum temperature of 17°C, pointing to a sharp atmospheric disturbance. Gondia saw a temperature range between 24°C and 38°C, while cloud cover has developed over Buldhana and Akola, indicating potential for rainfall there as well.
The IMD has advised people in the affected districts to take necessary precautions, avoid outdoor activities during storm alerts, and stay updated through official weather bulletins.
