The Indian Men's hockey team defeated Germany, the defending world champions, 3-0 on Saturday in the FIH Pro League at the Lee Valley Hockey Stadium in London.

Sukhjeet Singh (41st), Gurjant Singh (44th), and Harmanpreet Singh (16th) all scored goals putting India ahead going into the last leg of the nine-team league.

The teams were evenly matched, so there was a lot of activity in the first quarter. The Germans won a flurry of penalty corners  in the first few minutes, testing Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh while Sukhjeet and Mandeep Singh held tall in the forward line and created some fantastic chances.

However, Sreejesh demonstrated why he is still India's defense's favorite. For India supporters, his successful stop of the great Gonzalo Peillat's tremendous flick with his raised right palm was especially joyful.

India's captain Harmanpreet scored the opening goal of the second quarter when he hit the first PC with a precise shot to the left of German goalkeeper Alexander Stadler.

In the dying minutes, India's defense held firm as the youthful German team searched for an elusive goal. Harmanpreet and company won three points with the victory, moving up to third place in the points table after Argentina and the Netherlands.
