In the first of their two away Under-17 friendly on Sunday in Gianyar, India lost 1-3 to Indonesia despite a goal by Levis Zangminlun in the second half.
Evandra Florasta, Fandi Ahmad, and Mierza Firjatullah scored goals for the home team. On Tuesday, the two teams will play again at the same location.
In preparation for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Thailand and the SAFF U-17 Championships in Bhutan, the team led by Ishfaq Ahmed is participating in friendlies.
The hosts were awarded a penalty when Mierza Firjatullah sprinted to the byline, rounded the goalkeeper, and was booked after Mohammed Kaif pulled him down. This gave the Blue Colts an early lead. Florasta placed Indonesia ahead by sending a mixed message to Aheibam Suraj Singh.
India's first effort on goal was a low strike by Bharat Lairenjam that tested Dafa Setiawarman in the 23rd minute. Levis Zangminlun of India scored shortly after hitting the crossbar, but any chance of a rally was scuppered when Firjatullah completed Indonesia's third.
India failed to find another goal despite a late effort that saw excellent displays from substitutes Hemneichung Lunkim and Manbhakupar Malngiang.
