On Thursday night, the winning Indian squad in the Twenty20 World Cup will parade through Mumbai, just as they did seventeen years prior, when they won the first-ever T20 World Cup led by MS Dhoni.
This time around, during the open bus procession, the captain, Rohit Sharma, will be the center of attention. As the youngest player on the winning team in the South African competition, he was also a member of the victorious 2007 team.
"We wish to spend this unique occasion with each and every one of you. So let's celebrate this triumph on July 4th starting at 5:00 p.m. at Marine Drive & Wankhede with a victory parade. It's on its way home," Rohit wrote on X.
The one-kilometer open bus procession in Mumbai will travel from Nariman Point to Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium. After the Mumbai parade, the BCCI will present a winning bonus of ₹125 crore to the national selectors, players, and support personnel at a felicitation celebration at the Wankhede Stadium.
The Indian squad ended an 11-year wait for an ICC title, they hadn't taken home the Champions title since 2013.
