Students in Nagpur will soon be able to learn Italian at Nagpur University (NU). The university is set to sign an agreement with the Consulate General of Italy in India to introduce Italian language courses. This will help students get better opportunities for internships, higher education, and jobs in Italy. Italian students will also be able to study at NU to learn about Indian language and culture.

A meeting was held on February 17 to discuss the plan. It was attended by Italy’s Consul General Walter Ferreira, NU’s acting vice-chancellor Prashant Bokare, and other university officials. They talked about introducing Italian courses at NU’s International Language Department and possible collaborations in medical and healthcare training.

In April, a group of Italian university representatives will visit Delhi, where NU officials will meet them to take the discussions further. The agreement will also offer scholarships under the ‘Invest Your Talent in Italy’ programme. Students can apply for these scholarships until February 24, 2025.

This initiative is supported by Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan and the state’s higher education department. NU and the Italian Embassy are finalising the partnership, which will allow students from both countries to learn and explore new opportunities.
