Kanhan is on the way to becoming a major centre for women-led industries, appreciating the initiative by the Maharashtra State Government. The plan is to establish a dedicated MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) area specifically for women entrepreneurs. This was announced by Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant during a press conference on Friday. This is the State's first industrial zone focused solely on empowering women entrepreneurs.

MLA Ashish Jaiswal and others attended the event, Samant said the project marks a significant step in promoting inclusive economic growth. He was in Nagpur to participate in the 'Maharashtrachi Udyog Bharari' event organized by the Maharashtra Industries Department.

“The proposed MIDC area will encourage women entrepreneurs and create new opportunities for inclusive development,” Samant said. The State Government has already begun the process of acquiring around 3,000 hectares of land on the outskirts of Nagpur for new projects. Identified areas include Kanhan, Amadi, and other nearby locations.

Samant emphasized the government's commitment to rolling out a "red carpet" for entrepreneurs, encouraging them to invest in these new industrial zones. Notably, Maharashtra is the first State to launch a dedicated Industrial Policy to foster growth and increase growth and increasing female employment.

Highlighting the government’s broader vision, Samant pointed out the positive outcomes of entrepreneur-friendly policies across Vidarbha and other parts of Maharashtra. “Investment is happening all over – from Konkan to Gadchiroli,” he said, adding that recent investments have transformed Gadchiroli from a naxal-affected area into an emerging industrial hub.
