The Vidarbha-level athletics competitions, part of the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav, are set to take place from January 13 to 16. Conceived by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, this sports festival will unfold on the synthetic track at the Regional Sports Complex, Mankapur. Six different age groups will participate, and interested individuals can register their names by January 8.

The athletic events are scheduled to run from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. Participants include boys and girls below the ages of 12, 14, 16, and 18, along with men and women in the open category and the master’s category for those above 35 years. A total of 116 sports events, encompassing various disciplines, such as 4 Relay races for boys and girls, 4 X 100 meters and 4 X 400 meters, two mixed relay races, and 4 X 50 and 4 X 100 meters for children below 12 years, will be featured. Introduced last year were 5,000-meter and 3,000-meter Walk events for men and women, as well as hurdles races for boys and girls below 18 years.

A substantial cash prize of Rs 7,95,900 will be awarded to individuals and teams, with special accolades for Best Runner, Best Thrower, and Best Jumper. The event boasts a team of 110 technical judges and sports assistants.
